a labor of love

We have done most of the work on this property ourselves with wonderful help when needed. Keeping and redoing what was already here was especially rewarding given our 39 years, at the time, of “love of the hunt” and saving “old” while also appreciating “new.” Seventeen years later the love remains and we look forward to adding to the experience of old while maintaining comfortable and, where needed, up-to-date features.

We designed the event barn and its areas. Wonderful architects put it on paper for us. William and Edwin, talented father-son graders and cherished friends, prepared the site.

Jackie, a master carpenter and cherished friend, and our son Aaron built the entire 6,400 square foot “barn” up the hill from the dairy barn with wonderful help when needed of friends and family. Subs came on board when it was time for the mechanical etc. part of things. This endeavor took three and a half years of hard work, love and patience.

Our daughter Renee was involved from the start, and brought her talents to many aspects of this land and Yesterday Spaces. Our daughter Jeanine cheered us on from her home in the Boston area, and we are proud of how she and Dave raise their children. Our daughter Nichole and our son Arik were both married here. Arik is now our General Manager.

From the very beginning, during and after the building, we were busy planting trees, flowering shrubs and plants trying to keep everything natural and as native as we could. This included fruit trees and nearly 100 blueberry plants for early and late picking.

We loved learning, creating, designing and especially getting our hands dirty. We hope you will enjoy the “fruits” of our labors. We have been blessed by this land and it is a privilege to welcome you and to share these spaces with you.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the long-time and new friends in this business who graciously welcomed us, encouraged us and shared their experiences and knowledge with us. We are forever grateful.
